This chorus is being performed for the first time in 2023. This is another chorus falling in Part II Scene 5 of Messiah, which is often cut to shorten the program. "Their Sound Is Gone Out Into All Lands," is a quote from incredibly beautiful Psalm 19, where the psalmist writes in verses 1-3 "The heavens declare the glory of God...Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard." Verse 4, then, provides the text for this chorus, "Their line (sound) is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world." What the |

psalmist is saying is that all of creation is continuously giving testimony to God's existence, greatness and glory, all in a way easily understood by everyone, and with a sound reaching every corner of the world. God is literally shouting to us through creation. We simply need to listen! Paul in Romans 1:20 follows up this concept when he writes, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse."
